Ok, my truck has recentlly developed a miss, well I went to Advacne Auto and asked them for some plugs and they said the OEM replacement was the Autolite Double platinum's (which I've heard on this board is correct). Well I have been reading on here though that th right plug is actually the 42EE plug... The code on the top of the box that they gave me was APP 765. DO I have the right plug for a 97 4.2L V6 F-150? It still runs just as rough... Please help...

I have a 97 also...i got my plugs at Advance Auto parts,Autolite DP #42EE.....those are the wrong plugs for your truck!Take em back and get the 42EEs.:-X23

Not sure of the number but I just installed Bosch Platinums in my 2000 4.2. They are working fine. I did notice it idled smoother after new plugs.
