No Gas

OK I have a 66 F100 with a single barrell holly carb on it. It starts fine and will run fine until it gets nice and hot then it dies. The only way to keep it running is to pull the chock all the way. I have been told that it is a design flaw with the carb being to close to the engine and the gas is evaporating, but I don't believe that. However could it be that because my gas lines run along my block that the gas in getting to hot in the lines? If that is not it could someone please help, because it is driving me crazy.

Thanks
Branson

Is this an inline six? If it will only run with the choke closed, then I'm thinking you have a vacuum leak. It could be a cracked or disconnected hose or worse (but common on the sixes) a cracked intake manifold. Or on second thought possibly the carb is adjusted too lean or just needs a cleaning.

Yes it is an inline 6. The carb is brand new and this is only happening when its hot. I think after some research that I found it was vapor lock, however I have yet to figure out how to fix that. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Hmmm...new carburetor seems suspicious though. Did the old carburetor do the same thing? You're not by any chance using high octane gas are you? Or is your heat riser possibly stuck open?

I just noticed you said your fuel line runs along your block. You should have some space between the line and the block. If the block is touching the fuel line between pump and the carb that could cause vapor lock.
