Hey gang it has been a LONG time since I've been on.Seems good to be back! I have a 92 aerostar van that I need to add r-134a to the low side but where is the correct location? As I look at the motor the compressor is on the right and there seems to be a port there but is that the correct port? Thanks duke
Your low side fitting should be up near the firewall on the passenger side by the accumulator/drier. Your high pressure fitting is located on one of the lines connected to the condensor.
I see the port on the hose on the passengers side as well as a port on the can on the passengers side . Isn't the one on the can a check port?
OK...if your system is R12, your fittings will have threads on the outside and look like a bicycle tire valve and you can't put 134 into it. If your system is 134 or has been retrofitted to 134 the valves will be larger and will not have threads on the outside. In addition, the two valves will be of different sizes so you can't really put the refill hose fitting on the high pressure side (unless you have a gauge set and get your hoses mixed up - I'm going under the impression that you have a short hose like they sell in the refill kits).
On my unit the low pressure fitting for adding 134 is located on the accumulator/drier itself. Looking at it, it is located on the top, left hand side of the can.
