Will it blow again?
Greetings,
My 4.2 was replaced at 155K Km (just under 100K miles) and is now approaching 200K Km.
Has anyone had a repeat performance on the bent rod / blown engine issue? Should I be looking for a new rig before I need to dish out the $4000 for another new longblock in 3 months?
Please advise. I have been watching these threads for a long time and cannot recall this being discussed.

I am in a similar situation
(Infact it is quite scary reading some of these posts because I have expierenced the EXACT same scenario - THIS SUCKS)
Are these things stable after a rebuild? Is the new Ford gasket worth a *****?
ANy other advice to a person about to rebuild thers?

As long as the engine front cover and lower intake manifold gaskets were replaced with the revised versions, these 1997 4.2Ls are just as durable as 1998-on engines.
Revised gaskets:
Lower Intake - XU2Z-9439-AA
Engine Front Cover - YF2Z-6020-AA
Revised gaskets:
Lower Intake - XU2Z-9439-AA
Engine Front Cover - YF2Z-6020-AA
