If you have only a single key, you have only two choices: A dealer or a good locksmith.
Actually, you can get the key blank elsewhere, the problem is that the vehicle must be connected to a proper diagnostic tool in order to program a replacement key since you only have one key available.
Buy two replacements because as long as you have two operational keys, you can program an additional one without an expensive visit up til all the available memory slots are removed.
well, i guess it's the dealer then. I have a scanner (mt2500) its what i use at work and it can't do the key programming thing, which i guess means that i need fords scanner (NGS), unless someone knows of some other brand or program that could do it.
i don't wanna go to the dealer, i really like my arm and my leg.
You might check for any shops that do tunning as they might have the right kind of scan tool. The shop that does my tunning does anyway. Buying two keys is a good idea for the reasons mentioned. I have ordered them off of ebay for about $10 apiece and they will usually a hardware store will cut them for you for free. A side note when a neighbor got a key at the stealership they did no even say ford on it and the ones I got from ebay did.
