Lift Question

I have a 08' Superduty 4x4 crew cab. Im putting a 2.5 leveling kit with 325/60 toyo open county a/t tires on helo maxx8 20 inch rims. I was wondering if the tires sticking out was gonna chip my paint bad? If so do I need to put fender flares or mud flaps or is that just gonna make my truck look stupid???

The tires should stick out a little. I used to like that look my self, however my 315s fit nicely under my bushwacker OE flairs.

As long you don't spend a lot of time on a gravel road, you should be fine without flairs.

my bud's 08 has tires that stick out and he has scratched and nicked paint with less than three hundred miles. I would get the flares, or wait till you can before you get the bigger tires.
He also has rubbing at full lock too. I can't remember what tires but I think they were 325's on 17x10 rims. He plans to install a leveling kit and 350 rear blocks but has not had the chance. I think that would maybe clear up the rubbing??

I think your right. I got the leveling kit with the 350 blocks in the rear so that should clear up the rubbing issues. As far as the flares go does anybody know of some good flares that look good????

i have305/50/20 tires and i put teh bushwacker pokcet style flares, but thay have the smooth flares as well, that just extened the factory ones, Bushwacer are teh best and you can get them paint matched, whihci i have left moine the way they came from bushwacker, haven't decided if i want them black or silver yet

good luck with the 08 Ford

I would need the stock width and width of the aftermarket wheels, stock tire width and how far inset they are. 325 is only 12.75" wide so they may not stick out, I had to past 13" to stick out past the fenders on my 79 and 89. My 02 has 315 and they are still in the fenders.

Actually, if you want to measure from the axle flange, With 5" back space I assume you have a 10" wide wheel, the offset is 0 so your tire will extend half the width of the tire past the flange.

So you looking at 6 3/8" from the flange.

Your correct my wheel is 20x10. So what does 6 3/8 from the flange mean? how do i measure to see how far it will stick out???

Stick a yard stick against the hub and 6 3/8 inchs on the yard stick is where the tire should end.

If the stock wheels have 0 offset and are 8" wide, then your new tires will end about 2 inches past the stock wheel.

i paid about 350 for my pocket style flares, but didn't get them painted, and also my tires stick out about 2.5" on a 20x10 rim, so you might be sticking out close to 3"
