Brake and streering problems
I was driving last night and when I went to press on the brakes it started making this grinding noise (not commin from the rotors or pads) and I can feel the brake petal surging. The power stearing is also effected when I try to turn it makes the same surging noise and feeling. I had someone turn my wheel and I watched the powersteering lines shake hard when they turned the wheel. I dunno what the problem is but the steering and brakes are still working for now. Any ideas??
your brakes are hydro boost, so the power steering pump provides you power brakes and steering. If the level is OK, I would suspect the pump may be the problem.
Try to flush out the fluid. It's easy to do. It's easier to do with a helper. Take the return hose and disconnect it, place the end into a bucket. Start the engine and slowly turn the steering wheel. Make sure that you keep filling the fluids up in the resevoir (you do not want any air bubbles in the system). Step on the brakes also.
Keep doing this until all the old oil is flushed. I used synthetic ATF (Mobile 1) for my steering pump oil.
