4.2L Hydro-Lock
Anyone out there ever heard of the lower intake gaskets on 97 and early 98s,failing and causing hydro-lock?Ide like to hear from you FORD techs out there that visit this forum to tell all you know about this.Rumor has it FORD is about to do a recall because of this problem.

4.2L Hydro-Lock
On December 22, 2002 the lower Intake Manfold Gasket failed on my 1997 Ford F-150 4.2L V6 resulting in major mechanical damage. I had 98761 miles at the time of the gasket failure.
I installed a new 4.2L Engine Assembly at a cost of $3,994.58. As of this date ford has shown no interest in discussing this problem.

Pos Ford,(2)weeks after I made that post I had my lower intake gaskets replaced to prevent the hydro-lock.AJRagno and TallTom advised me very heavily to get it done.The Ford tech,who is my friend now,told me my motor was a ticking time bomb ready to blow at any minute due to the lower intake gaskets going bad and severely under torqued lower intake bolts.I would suggest to anyone that has a 97 with the 4.2,get your lower intake gaskets replaced before you lose your motor.I paid just under 500.00 to get it done.Better then 4200.00 for a new motor!:-X23
