Pass. Cab. rubbers

Hi there, I need know...

1º is there any way to know when the pass. Cab mounting rubbers needs to be replaced? is there any height specification or so..?

2º Rubbers looks to be riveted them self because they can not be removed just by removing the bolt. Is there any way/trick to remove???

Easy Repair

The rubber mount has a grommet like that when its bolted down it mashes it in so it doesn't shift. I had a 67 that had a bad rubber mount. What i did was losen the rear two bolts and then i removed the bolt that had the bad rubber. I then raised the rear of cab with a bottle jack in center of cab just a little to take off pressure. I used my sawsall and cut it out. Keep the washers. I then got a rubber roller from a boat trailer and cut a piece off to the size of old rubber mount. Stuck in place, put bolt in and tighted it down and it was good till i got rid of the truck. I now have a 72 and have bought the new mounts for cab and radiator and for complete assy, was 175.

The cab mounts can still be purchased. You have a choice of regular or urethane. The urethane can start squeeking over time. But are more chemical resistant.

Generally, the body mounts are about an inch and a half thick when new. The best way to tell is to look for dry rot and cracking all around, if it's only 1/2" thick now with chunks missing or deep cracks, they're probably toast.
