I have an SCT X-cal 2 for my 2007 3.0 Ranger and it is night and day with the 93 octain performance tune. I have an 87, 91, and 93 performance tunes for it. Next to the U/D pulley it's money well spent. You get better MPG on top of it, and it does #3, 4, and 5 from above.
