I'm just curious to know if anyone has found a way to take the dye out of offroad diesel? I know i'll catch a lot of flack over this post. I'm just wondering if it is possible.
If checked I wonder how one would explain purple diesel in the tank. LOL Uh officer are you sure it's purple and your not color blind. Or I just filled up at the truck stop.
I dont think there would be any effective way to do it. Odds are, you arent going to get caught, unless you frequent truck stops, interstates, or stock yards...
I knew I should have expected some cracks. All in fun. I was just wondering if it was truley possible. One could hope. I have heard that you could put it in a white plastic drum and the sun would bleach it out. That would probably break down the diesel. I know that plastic drums sweat. I don't need water in my diesel.
A place to start would be to find out what type of dye and what the chemical makeup of the dye is that is added to the diesel. Once you know those things further research may lead you to how to get rid of it. I would think the red color would come from a solid pigment, microscopic red particles suspended in the dye.
I'm no chemist.
I do think that it would probably be more trouble than its worth.
