31" tires

Well I just could not resist this deal I can across in an auto wrecker here in Canada for a set of hardly used BFG baja tires. they mesure 31" and they look sweet on my truck....Well now I have a problem as you all assume. I have some inner fender rubbing up front. If I swap in a pair of explorer springs will this fix my situation? Or do you think I should just dive in and buy a 4 inch lift kit?

I'd go for a good 4in lift if you have the coin to do it right - i.e. drop brackets, extended arms, new leafs, etc. But when I had 31s all it took to clear them was 2in lift coils w/ 1/2in spacers under them, add-a-leaf and a 2in BL. Then a front end alignment.

I ran 31's on my 84 ranger with just the slightest of rubbing on my mudflaps when turned and twisted.

Is clearancing the sheetmetal an option for you? I wouldn't lift it unless I was going to 33's or larger...

I just installed the explorer lift in my truck today and it has stopped rubbing when driving forward and turning. But if I back up it will rub the same as before. So for the 10$ I spent on the coils I say a 75% improvement is livable. Also a problem is that my rims have an offset in seams. They stick out farther than the stock alloys I see on rangers and Bronco II's I think If I find a good deal on some original alloys I will pick them up and I think I will have 100% improvement.

I forgot to mention that the rubbing is happening on the black plastic of the inner fender cover not the actual metal.
