I'm thinking of buying a 1999 Navigator. It has just under 100k on it. My hubby isn't a Ford guy so I really have been trying to convince him that it is a good buy. I've been checking out this forum for a couple weeks because eventually I'm going to get a bigger Ford Truck but for now the Navigator is looking good to me. Is there anything that you guys can tell me about it. Are they known for any problems and any info on gas mileage? I live in Eastern Ohio so I have plenty of hills and I will use it for pulling my quads on a trailer (which I was able to do with hubby's V6 Chevy )
Well, we had a 2000 'Gator for almost two years. Wonderful truck to ride in.
When I drove it, I could usually get the overhead display to around 15-16 mpg except when I was towing my 3500# boat. Then, I was lucky to get 12 mpg in the Ozarks.
Whenever I got into it after my wife had been driving it, the MPG display would invariably read between 11 and 13 MPG since she has a lead foot....
The Gator's 5.4 has plenty of power provided you have a decent axle ratio. Ours had a 3.73 axle ratio.
Ended it selling it so we could build a new house we can't afford... Had to get rid of that $500/month payment. We still do miss the truck...
