I've got a new to me '93 7.3 n/a. I've been asking a bunch of ?'s, and here is another. I started running Diesel Kleen, and am pretty sure I can tell a difference.
But what Cetane boost should I go for? I've been adding enough (per the can label) to boost by 3. There is also an amount to boost by 6. Kind of a nit picky question, but what do you all do?
For me it works out to about 5.5 oz per 16 gallon (roughly) tank.
Look for the Cetane number on the pump your getting fuel from, if it is posted. Then you can figure how much Diesel Kleen to add to bring the number up to no more than 55. I know the pumps we were at in Ohio had it posted.
they don't post cetane ratings on our pumps in mississippi (at least the part I live) so don't know how much rate boost i'm getting, but normally add 4 oz. dieselKleen and 16 oz low ash 2-stroke oil per 18 gallon tank fill. with the ultra low sulphur fuel, it sure does help with the lubing of the IP to add the dieselKleen and the 2-stroke oil. maybe it's because i don't hear well, but i'd swear the engine got quieter with the mixture. don't know if this helps, but that's the mix i use year round.

6.9 and 7.3 will run on just about any thing and the power increases between fuels aren't that much I personally run mine on 70% used trans fluid and 30% diesel that gest me about 50 -60 miles to the gallon of fuel I put in becasue the
ATF is free the power diff is almost un noticable
