I was on my way back from Wyoming the other day when all of the sudden my cruise control just shut off while driving on the interstate. I tried to turn it back on and nothing happened. After a few miles I tried it again and it worked but only for a short time making for a very unpleasant drive the rest of the way home. Once I was almost home I found out that my AC would also turn off and not work when the cruise control was not working. The AC would do the same thing. Work some of the time and not work most of the time turing on and off very sparadicly (sp). I am wondering if these two might be connected some how and if there are where should I start looking first. I hoping for a bad connection somewhere but don't know where to start.
Also, when my AC is not working I am still able to adjust the fan speed but not select whether or not I want hot or cold air to be blowing out. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this 100 degree heat is killing me on my hour and a half drive home from work/school each day. Thanks
Those two sub-systems have one thing in common: The feed from the ignition switch via underdash fuse F5.
Pull fuse F5 and inspect the socket for loose clamping pins.
If the feed were intermittent from the ignition switch, it would also affect the shift lock actuator and possibly anything run by the GEM. This is still possible, however, since you didn't note (yet) anything else strange, I'd keep that idea on the back burner until more evidence comes up.
Has the cruise control safety recall been completed on this truck? The master cylinder has a switch on it with a two wire harness connected to it. This switch may be failing taking out the cruise control. If the recall hasn't been done, disconnect this switch until it is taken care of. The switch has a failure mode that can create a fire that can burn the truck down and it doesn't matter if the truck is sitting turned off, it can still happen. I don't believe this has anything to do with the AC problem though. Good luck!
That seemed to have fixed the problem. I had a loose connection on Fuse #5. Thank you very much for that. I can't tell you how much that is going to make my drive more pleasant. Thanks again.

Well, sometimes I get lucky!
Keep an eye on it that fuse probably didn't get loose by itself.
