Help Deciding on Tires

<DIR>I'm having a hard time deciding which tires to buy. Here in Aruba there aren't any highways, so I won't be doing much high speed driving. Aside from driving around town on the pavement I will probably go to the dragstrip every once in a while, and also do the occasional offroading (rocks and dunes, maybe some mud). These 3 tires are my top choices so far, the price is about the same plus or minus $25. Looking for your opinions here, which one of these tires is going to look coolest and be most functional for my application?

None of those are gonna be great at the strip. I'm far from expert, but I'd think the BFGs would have the edge in mud, and the Claws would do best in the dunes. If it was up to me, I'd go with the BFGs--best bang for the buck. And you made an excellent choice with the wheels!

If you are driving around town, doing occasional offroading and occasional drag racing all with the SAME RIG you should consider having more than one set of tires available for use...either that or more than one rig available for use.

Jurgen went to bed, but we talk all the time. I think that when he says he'll take his truck to the strip he's just doin it for fun to race against friends, he doesn't do it competitively or put money on it obviously, or he'd be buying racing slicks. Buying 2 sets of tires is a bit out of his budget so he's lookin to get a good set of offroad tires that will serve him well on tarmac as well.

I figured that was the case, and he probably wouldn't be primarily driving on the drag strip. So if my phrasing was bad, I apologize. I stand behind my belief that the BFGs will give the best bang for the buck.

My buddy has a set of the BFG's, they sure do smoke alot when it comes to doin a burnout. Im not sure how they perform for him in mud or anything else. I have only ever seen him on pavement.

I have owned a set of 33 DC FC 2s and loved them. I should have taken them off the truck when i sold it. 40,000km and probably would have gone another 40. great on just about every surface. suprised, they were not that bad on icy roads too. If you go in more mud go with the BFGs. Claws look cool, work good in the rocks and sand, but not for mud. Ive also heard they dont last long either.

If my kilometers-to-miles conversion was done right, BEWOLD's FCs lasted 24,800 miles. That's pretty damn good for off-road tires! Maybe the FCs are a better choice?

About the only other advice I can give is to avoid bias-plys if at all possible...

Results may vary. But have to admit i was truely amazed. They were on my 02 4x4 reg cab sbx ---vy. regular gravel driving too. Currently running BFG AT KOs on 05 FX4 with 18s, Great tire but dont last too long on the gravel here. 18 inch tires are expensive! Did someone say sexy?

i think the best bet would be the bfg's or the baja claws. BUT stay away from bfg all terrains....they suck in mud. i have them on my truck and they are great for about 5 minutes then the turn into slicks which isn't good . if i were you id find some used swampers but thats just me. i know your going to be using it on street and offroad so that might not be the best case.

Okay, I thought of some more advice earlier today: if at all possible, have 'em mounted and checked for clearence before you buy them. This is especially important for anyone who has radius arms--big sidewall lugs, from what I've heard, don't get along with radius arm brackets. This might save you some aggrivation down the line.

Edit: I don't think 4WD F-250s have radius arms, being as they're leaf-sprung, but I figured the bit about radius arms would be beneficial to anyone with a radius-arm truck who's reading this thread.

BFG's, they wear and drive great. Plus they are the toughest tire for the money that I have ever bought. And I've bought a lot of tires in my 57 years... and 20+ pickups and cars.

These aren't on your list......but I like the Mastercraft Courser AT's...they do really good all around.....went in a buddy of mine's truck playing in the lovely swamp itch mud of Holopaw...didn't get stuck once, that or the deep sugar sand...and we were usually playin in 2wd......BFG's don't last long but they are good in sand and decent in mud.....
