turbo lag HELP!
I put a 6" lift, 37" tires, cold air intake, and 5" exhaust all in a week and I can't tell which of these add-ons made it so the truck will not pick up and go untill the rpms get up. Going down the road about 35 mph or so and I mash on the pedal it seems to do ok, but from a dead stop if I want to step on it it is really sluggish, and will not go untill the turbo kicks in and then goes like a maddog. I do not have a chip and I was wondering if a chip would help or should I change my gears? Or is the 5" exhaust to big(causing less backpressure then would be ideal?) I am lost please help.

The problem is most likely the 37" tall tires. Are you running stock 3:73 gears? If you are thats more than likely where the lag is coming from. The cure is new gears front and rear 4:30s or 4:56s and about $2000 to do the gear swap.
You could tune it to pick up more power but its sort of a bandaid. Regearing is the way to go.
Should I get a chip first? or maybe the Banks High-Ram intake?
what chip is good for this powerstroke?
In terms of a chip.... Do a search but the overwhelming majority of us believe that an SCT XCalII with gauges and tunes from a reputable vendor (Matt at Spartan Diesel or Eric at Innovative Diesel are my picks) is the ONLY way to safely tune the 6.0.
Good luck and have fun

you are correct, he is wrong. the turbo itself is all the backpressure you'll need/want. you want as little restriction as possible behind the turbo.you already have exhaust, i would do the SCT next before the intake
As for air intake, the majority of folks will say to leave it a lone. The stock air intake will support upwards of 500 rear wheel horsepower.

it is not like an edge juice plug in module. the difference is that a "module" intercepts the factory signals and modifies them before sending them to the inector controller/ecm etc.. it is one way to make extra HP, and they do work quite well, however they do not have any control over the tranny, and they are not custom tunable.
the SCT is a downloader that actually removes the FORD programming from the stock ECM, and REWRITES it with custom tunes. this controls ALL aspects of the vehicle's parameters without any extra hardware being plugged in. basically it is the S#!T
i've had edge modules, and bully dog programming in my truck, and now that i have an SCT, even with a very mild tune, i am way happier. the truck runs like factory except with a lot more get up and go.
when i had the edge, i would notice a lot of "misfiring" (not a correct way of saying it, but you understand how it would run) at partial throttle position. also the edge was responsible for about 3500 dollars worth of tranny work
