Fancy Wiring
I have finally finished the framing in my basement and can start on the wiring. I'm doing basically the same as everyone has talked about.
I had my house built in SLC, so I was able to control most of this from the start. I have at least 2 cable in each room, 2 CAT5 in each, and 2 phone connections in each room. My phone boxes are set up with two connections in the box so that if I needed a secondary phoneline, the top connection will be one and the bottom plug will be another.
Good luck and stay away from the 220. 110 only tickles a little, but 220 can get your attention faster...
This morning I finished up pulling more data/cable into the other jack in the living room. This was a little more interesting of a pull although it was easy since I already had wire running through there to tape onto. Also started nailing up some boxes in the garage so I can have more than 2 outlets in the whole thing.
I took some pictures and I'll try to get those up tonight.

I did the same in my garage.
This last winter I finished rewiring the basement without removing the walls.. just cutting small holes in certain areas and snaking the wire to where it had to go... ..... last week I almost finished the garage.
Tough job doing it myself in my condition ....but I got it done and am now enjoying it.
IIRC, code says ...I think you can have a combination of 12 total ....outlets and fixtures on a 15 amp circuit.
Most undeveloped basements have lights (with string switch) hooked up to upstairs circuits.
That's what I redid last winter.. removed lighting from upstairs circuits and created new circuits through out all 6 rooms.
I can walk the entire basement and have light through out from 4 different circuits and be able to plug something in from either wall opposite to a blow circuit.

BTW, the code book doesn't limit the number of openings that you can have on a circuit, although it is common practice to have 10 openings per 15 amp circuit.
The first ones are of the switches that I moved from around the corner to a more logical spot and tied 3 of the commons lights into one switch. Don't mind the almond switch with the white switch and plate.
Just re-using what we already have. It ended up getting a little busy in the box for the switches, but it is still under the fill capacity.http://mistercmk.com/album/albums/us...2/DSC01668.JPG

Woo-hoo! This big mess that used to be all the light switches for the basement is finally going away.

This is the mess inside some of the light boxes from the old stuff. I still have to get the house drawn up in CAD or at least a rough sketch on a notebook so that I can get my as-builts drawn. I want to try and get everything drawn up and all the wires chased/toned to know where they go before I really dig in.

And finally I finished my desk last night. Picked up some 1/2" MDF for the top and had to lower it down a bit, but the desk is great. Also added a pair of receptacles right at working height (not shown in this pic) for things such as battery chargers, cell phones, etc.

This is what the connector looks like.

Here is my crimper, I really like the Ideal ratcheting one. It will do RJ45 and RJ11

First thing you are going to do is remove about 3/4" to 1" of the outer jacket. This makes it much easier to arrange the wires. I like to use my wire strippers to score the outside and then pull it off.

Then arrange the wires in the correct order. I like to use the 568B as it is the most common. The order from left to right is as follows:
W/O, O, W/G, B, W/B, G, W/Br, Br. You will then need to clip the wires down to approximately 1/2" long and make sure that the end is straight.

Then put the connector onto your cable making sure that the wires are still in the correct order. Crimp it down with the crimper and then you're done.
