this may sound funny - but how well do car seats fit into say...an early 90's f-series supercab? i have a reg cab but 2nd baby is coming and i need space. Just deciding if a supercab would work or should i skip straight to a crew lol
Thanks
Brian
I have 4yr old twins that I put back there in car seats. My 12 yr old was back there also, but now sits in front. The center seat leaves no leg room. She puts her feet on top of the center console. It's not too bad for short rides. If the whole family goes anywhere, I'll usually drive my Suburban. If I were looking again, I'd go with a crewcab.
I have 2 kids 2 and 5 1/2 . Both fit no problems and I have had several seats . If it has buckets no problem put longer legged kid on pass side. But access to them if don't have buckets is a pain . But I use mine every week .
If need a 1/2 ton only as the extra expense of 3/4 1 ton may not be worth it to you. And crew cabs F150 are rare . But good luck on search
i have put my son in the back with no problem and he has all the space in the world back there but now i have another one coming soon and 2 car seats are going to be fun to hook up now that i have a bench seat in the front o well
Since you haven't purchased yet I'd go for the crew cab, that is unless your worried about how much more fuel you'll burn. You could always look for a Power Stroke and then you'll have all the truck you'll ever need.
Only problem I have with the room I have in my truck is that I don't have enough kids to fill it up , poor guy is lonely back there in that seat all by himself. , crew cabs are the best , room for six adults!
I'd go with a crew cab, although I can fit 2 car seats in my stick shift reg cab. I just have to keep my daughter from kicking the truck out of gear. She thinks it's fun.

I thought somebody would like that. I got used to driving everywhere in 1-3-5 gear.
That's how it was when my daughter graduated from the infant seat to the forward facing seat in my 5-spd Dakota. That was actually part of the reason we got rid of that truck.
I now have an 8YO and a 3YO. We found the rearward facing seat to be a pain, but do-able in the back seat. We have buckets, so the seat kinda fit between the fronts. Now that he faces forward, it's a great fit. Access isn't as easy as a crewcab, but parking is easier, and F150s in the early-mid '90s are pretty cheap.

Maybe that's what I should do. I'll put the two year old in the rear facing carseat until she promises not to mess with it anymore. The ten month old has short legs and is much easier to get along with.
I have the same issue coming up my 3yro is fine in my 93 x-cab. she sits in the booster stlye. Just took a test yesterday and found out were having one more. I hope just one twins run in the family LOL. but with my truck i have bucket seats so the infant shoud fit in the center no prob. Or maybe I can con the wife into a new crew cab truck LOL.
