Clutch Experience?

If you've got an aftermarket clutch and some mods on your rig, I'd like to hear about it. I have a chip on order from TW and he's told me up front my stock clutch is going to get smoked in short order. I've read that SB con-o isn't up to the task of stage 1's and towing, so that puts me into an OFE to the tune of ~$900 including flywheel. Are there other options I should be considering other than the OFE? I know some of you run Luk, Valair, etc. How are they holding up?

i just put in a LUK last december and so far i love it. i haven't had a chip in the truck yet but from what i've been told, it will hold up until i get the DIY-stage 1's. and even after that being as the clutch is so new i can probably go for a little while before having to change it out. once i change out i'm going to a valair clutch. my brother has a valair and although it is a little rough on take off since it's made to withstand 550hp it is holding up well in his truck.

that is the truth. cody loves his val-air clutch. and from what he says and from 1 of my experiences that guy that cody deals with for val-air is a super great guy.

Mag, the guys aren't kidding. I love my Val Air. I beat the crap out of it with stage 1's and nitrous all the time. It doesn't even blink. It's a little grabby backing up, but that doesn't bother me. Dan Vallance is the guy that owns Val Air. Give him a call and tell him Cody from Death Row Diesel sent you. He'll hook you up straight! I promise you won't be sorry, and his prices whip the crap out of SB. But as a disclaimer, SB, LUK, are excellent clutches and I don't have a single bad thing to say about them. I've had an LUK and loved it. But it just wouldn't hold the Stage 1's. Call Dan, you'll be glad you did.

Thanks fellas, I will definately check into Valair. If it's holding back stage 1's and nitrous, it sounds plenty stout.

i have no doubt that if cody got ahold of it and it's still together then it is very stout! i saw how you drive that mud racing truck cody!!! is it the same way on No. 3? if so then that clutch is more stout than i think...jk

Yes he has clutches to hold 2's no problem. He has several versions to fit your driving style and power levels.
