I just got a 352 motor out of a 1966 Ford F100 and the motor is frozen and i was woundering if it was werth fixing and i was also wundering how you know what kind of 352 motor it is, Do they make a 352 cleavland, cause i found a C on the block. And are 352s have much power?
The C you found should be for the 60s decade. C6 would be 66.
The 352 is a FE Ford Edsel engine family same as 360 & 390. I run a 352 in my truck and love it. Their bells are different so you don't want to change engine families unless you are changing the transmission also.
I think if I had your choice, I would not rebuild it but rather would look for a 390 to buy or rebuild.
352's aren't valuable. Check Ebay and you'll see they don't sell for much. If it's stuck, it really isn't worth fixing IMO and I say that being a fan of the FE. They only made 208 flywheel rated horsepower in the truck application.
As I was reading this thread I was wondering what the difference is between the 352, 360, and the 390. Bore, Cam, stroke, all of the above? How about the heads, are the valves the same size?
I read that 352's aren't worth much but I would think that if I chose to rebuild the block would be the same as 390?
As I said above I was wondering???
If its stuck it either has mechanical damage or water in the cylenders rusting it tight. Depending on how lon it has sat the cyls may not clean up even at .060 over bore. I dont waste cash on rusty blocks.
Look at the head part numbers and the block, for 66 it should be C6ME on the block and C6AE on the heads. Salvage those and whatever else you can and l0ok for another engine. Free dont always mean good.
