I have a couple left over cases of Castrol High Mileage 10w30 that I was using in my 87 T-Bird, which I no longer own.
Instead of giving them away I was thinking of using them in my 96 Explorer(4.0 V6), which I have been using Val. DuraBlend 5w30 (I was going to switch to the Maxlife since I've learned it's also a synblend).
Would it really make any difference?
Also once I have used up the Castrol I was going to switch back to Valvoline Maxlife, but should I then stay with 10w30 or go back to 5w30?
It can get down to zero, but that usually is an overnight temp.
I didn't think it would matter, but I've kinda been like others here @ FTE that say stay with what got you there.
The Explorer I mentioned has over 125K. and that has been with 5w30.
Use up the Castrol HM then go to Maxlife. Start looking for Maxlife deals now. I would stick with 10w30 in your climate. Well, I am pretty much the same climate as you and I run 10wXX all winter.
