2001 F250 Super Duty. I am in need of replacement 4 pole trailer light socket and some instruction to install it. The brown wire has broken at back side of the molded socket and can't splice it. The trailer lights don't work and I checked the continuity and they are ok. Replacement of the socket and four wire harness seems to be the only option. Is this a part that plugs in somewhere in the vehicle harness? What is the part number or where can I find more info/photos on the web? The molded female socket is designed to 'snap' into the bracket mounted on the frame below the bumper, along side the 7 pole socket. Thanks

I found a 7 pin adapter to 4 pin adapter on ebay. No need to have two seperate harnesses.

I believe the 4 way is part of the same harness as the 7 way. If you follow them up by the spare tire you should be able to find where it plugs in to the main truck harness. I believe the harness costs around $100 from Ford though, so you would probably be better off taking hydro's advice and looking for an adapter to use in your 7 way socket (assuming it still works fine). I personally carry one of these in my truck, so I have 7 way, 6 way, and 4 way plugs, the three most common.
