6cyl to v8 conversion
Can't help but post all these questions i've had lately.
How easy is a straight 6 to a v8 conversion? Can I use the existing transmission?

It's not terribly hard. You can retain your current tranny if you stick with a small block V8. The 300 shares the same bellhousing bolt pattern with the 302 and 351W/351C. Most people will tell you a swapping from a 300 to a 302 isn't worth the time/effort. It pretty much depends on your intended use of the truck.
