Its Still Broke !!!!!!!

OK here goes!!

I have a 1993 F250 4X4 w/ a 7.3 liter and a E4OD.

To start with my truck will start right up when it is cold, but after it warms up I can shut it off and restart it immediately, BUT come back 30 min. later and it won't start.

I didn't have time to work on it myself so I took it to a mech who I thought was pretty knowledgable to fix it.WRONG!!!!!!!! First he told me it was the IP so I gritted me teeth and got one put on. Turns out that wasn't the problem. $1000 down the S@#ter. Next he says its the glowplug relay. NOPE flush. Meanwhile he burned up my starter and killed both of my batteries. SO, if you can't tell by now I am pissed and broke.

Now that I have gotten it back from the shop occasionally the wait to start light won't come on and the controller won't cycle. Also the transmision won't shift properly. Neither one of these were ever a problem before I took it to Mech.

List of things replaced
Injector pump
Glow plud controller
glowplugs ( Motorcraft)
Starter
2 batteries

what color are the fuel return caps?(under the injector line nut above the injector) if theyre grey they probably need replaced. Some people will even say when you disturb the injector line nuts on the injectors that you should install new o-rings. Even newer caps over time will distort and cause leakage issues.

Air will leak into the fuel system and give you hard starting. You may not see any fuel leaking out though.

My truck would start up after sitting 5-10 minutes easily. After sitting 30 minutes or longer and would take a while to start. I got a fuel retuen kit from a local fuel injection place for about $40. Now it starts fine. Kit comes with caps, o-rings, fuel line, and clamps.

As for the trans, When the ip was replaced the FIPL sensor probably wasnt adjusted right or at all. The FIPL sensor is located on the driver side of the ip with three wires running to it. Get a volt meter and check voltage on the center wire with connector still hooked up to the sensor. The key must be in the on position and the engine NOT running. You want to have about 1 volt with throttle closed and 3.5-3.8 volts wide open throttle. (someone correct me if im wrong please)

Lastly the glow plug issue, cant help you much there (mine still dont work)
Do the glow plugs not cycle when its cold? or when it's hot? Maybe the Mech did fix the glow plugs though.

The glow plugs cycle, but only if the "wait to start" light comes on. First I thought the light went out but thats not the case. Sometimes the light comes on, but not always. I will install a fuel return kit tomorrow. How do you adjust the FIPL if the voltage is wrong?

Thanks for the help.

there are two torx screws on the FIPL braket that mounts to the ip. When loose the fipl will basically just rotate. i think the torx size is a t-25 or a t-27.

just make sure the connector is still connected to the fipl when checking/adjusting.

My bet, it's a air leak....remeber just because there isn't fuel leaking, does'nt mean air can't get in!
I blocked "1 fuel injector "return" line to get rid of my hard starts when the 6.9 warmed up.
