Air cleaner paint
The oil bath air cleaner on my 49' F2 looks like it had paint inside (oil area) from the factory. When restoring it should I repaint this oil bath area or leave it bare. If paint, what type of paint can be purchased to withstand being soaked in oil.

I would leave the inside of the air cleaner bare as it shouldn`t rust. I`m not aware of what the factory did though.

All the oil bath type air cleaners i've seen aren't painted inside. I would clean it up and leave it unpainted.

I have two on my 55 Y-blocks and neither is painted. I would think that if the paint should peel it could be a problem. Jag
