No Start, Does Crank Fine

I have a 05' 6.0 f350 with 22,000 miles on it. Has been fine, except for CEL warning that led to a turbo replacement at 19K. I drove it yesterday to work, then drove it 5 minutes back and forth to grab lunch, and last went to start it to go home and there was no start. It cranks fine.

I did check the fuel cutoff switch, no change. I left it at work overnight and this morning it still didn’t start(cold).

It’s being towed now to the dealer. A bunch of post I read suggest it is the HPOP. I will be reading more up on that.

Anything else I should be aware of? Oil level is fine (about ready for it’s 5K change) and fuel filters less than 10K, and it had been starting fine.

I want the dealer to find a problem, I pray it won’t start for them on Monday!

Thanks

Could be IPR or quick connects for the HPOP...

Did you notice if the Oil Pressure gauge on the dash was showing anything? The dash gauge shows if you have oil pressure from the Low Pressure Oil Pump (LPOP). If you do, then most likely the issue would then be with the High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP), which could be as simple as the STC Fitting broke loose.

Same thing happened to me about a month ago, was stuck at a rest area with my 37 foot fifth wheel. Had to be towed to Wayside ford and ended up being my oil pump. (thank god for that engine warranty)

take care
Ed

WRT to the dash, yes when cranking the engine, the pressure guage came up.

As for towing, I too have a 37 ft Toyhauler Fifth and being stranded in the desert is my worst nightmare. I'm sorry to hear about Ed's story. Yes, the warranty is must on these beasts.

I appreciate the comment thus far and look forward to anyone else with any wisdom.

My Update on what the dealer found. Monday morning they called and said the truck was running, but it did not start right away. They ran the diags on the injector system and the ICP registered 374 psig. Obviously not the minimum 500 psig. 600-700 psig I was told is normal. They wiggled the connector and the truck started.

So the good news is they found something wrong and it was not the HPOP as I feared. They replaced the ICP connector and pins. I asked about the connector and they said that while it looks the same, it was a new mfg and supposedly better pin retention in the connector.

I was told this was common on the 03 and 04 and updated on later models. Not sure it really is totally fixed since mine went bad.

But the story doesn't end. After I thought about it at the dealer, it was just 3000 miles or so ago that the turbo was replaced for sticking vanes. My CEL was stuck on when that occurred. Coking as it was described was the problem and buggered up the variable vane function. Love that EGR system! I thought that maybe in the process of replacing the turbo they might have been a little rough around the ICP connector? My service writer wasn't going to speculate, but did say that it might be possible that there could be a link. Either way, the connector is replaced.

I hope that ends my woes for awhile.

Be happy you found someone who can fix your truck without keeping your truck for days before getting to it, or without even mentioning you didn't buy the truck there, or voiding your waranty for using that evans coolant. That egr and turbo won't carbon up and stick if you mash the go pedal grampa.
