Canadian Ford/Mercury trucks had the Vin plate screwed on to the inside of the glove box door and the serial number stamped on top of the frame rail. In 1956 the plate was fastened to the driver`s door front pillar, at least in Canada.
Mine were on the driver`s side between the left front wheel and the steering gear box. The serial number stamping was very hard to find as it`s a faint stamping covered in 50 years of rust and dirt.

The U.S. trucks for 53-55 was also screwed to the inside of the glove box door. If not there, Iwill second fomoko1 on the frame rail. Passenger side anywhere from the radiator crossmember tothe right front cab wing. It could also be on the radiator cross member. It is usually on the frame rail between the crossmember and axle though. Wire brush, and solvent to get it clean enough to read
