1989 f259 460 efi. done full tune up, runs great. however from time ti time it is really hard to start, like its not getting fuel....any ideas? once it starts it runs fine.
could be the idle air control valve sticking in both cases. if it sticks when cold its probably carboned up, if it sticks when hot it could be gummed up with something else, or the valve just doesnt want to actuate. theres a pretty limited number of parts that control the starting of efi. another thing that could make it not want to start when warm is if your exhaust runs right next to the starter- could heat up the brushes in it and make the motor not want to turn. could be crappy cables- as heat goes up resistance goes up.
Have 1989 4.9l. Just in the last few weeks, hard start when warmed up. Acts like the battery is going dead. Will hardly turn over. Turns over/starts fine when cold. Has new air control valve. Any suggestions? Battery connections clean, alt charging fine, battery in good condition.
