1994 E-150 van, 5.0L, AOD trans, 75k mi. Intermittent vibration feels like a slight high frequency shudder lasting a few seconds. Seems to happen around 40-50MPH. Shudder is prominent enough for all passengers to feel. U-joints are fine.
If it's consistent.....I'd have the wheels checked for balance and/or look for a bad tire.......bulge...separation. Mine did it at 50 and I had thrown a wheel weight.
If there is any pulsing or vibration when braking from higher speed....have the rotors checked......I had that too.....cut them and it's all gone now.
Otherwise jack the front end up and check the wheels for loose bearings, loose or bad suspension parts, tierods..."etc"
does the shudder coincide with the engagement of overdrive? could be the o/d band or servo is worn or weak. does the trans shift properly all the time?
