WE have an 03' 6.0 and the Odometer, and Speedometer do not work as well as the ABs light is on. I replaced the speed sensor in the differential and that did not work so there goes 50$. So where else would i look. The company that owned the truck before sent it to Ford and they put some guy on it that tore everything apart. He unpluged everything he could. So if there are any wire diagrams for the speed sensor and odometer please let me know. Or if anyone knows a another common problem that i could fix let me know.
i'm sorry man i dont. have you asked the dealership ? do you think it is something not working correctly, or do you just have a bunch of stuff unplugged still ?
Well we had alot of stuff unpluged, but i am pretty sure we got it all plugged in unless there is something under the dash.
The brake sensor under the dash was unplugged and couldn't put it into any gear until we found that. Looked up under there and couldn't see anything. Looked at all the plugins on the frame and they looked good. I guess i am going to have to look up under the dash some more.
I am not a tech but I think if the failure was your speed sensor, you would have had other issues like improper shifting and other drivability issues, as that reading is critical to the tranny control. It could be a bad ABS module, which would cause the ABS light and I believe the ABS module is tied into the Speedo. It could also be a faulty cluster, which is tied to the ABS and could also cause the ABS module to throw a ABS light. Have you checked all the fuses? There are so many damn fuses between the dash and under the hood. A blown fuse for the speedo / cluster could be causing the problem as well. Just thought I'd throw a few ideas at you. Hopefully someone will be along shortly with some more ideas or can at least recommend a good dealer for you because there is no excuse for a dealer tech not to be able to find a hard fault problem like the one you are having.
is your OD/OFF light blinking? Also be sure to verify that your abs unit has a good ground. It ataches to the subframe in front of the passenger side battery.
