FFR428, thanks for the extra eyes and ears out there for a block, not ready this year do to back issues plus wife's other knee replacement coming up.
The last 427 block I purchased I sold as it was bored .030" over, all lifter and cylinder bores needed sleeving as this block sat outside in the rain for many years. Too far gone in my book, there'll be others or a new big dollar repo block, yea right pass that one over the War Department.
I get this echo in the head all the time, "you out of your mind?" She already knows the answers yes but keeps asking.
The thing these days an old used up 427 block is gambling it's good first then all the machine work which about matches buying a new cast block that's built stronger and better.
That's very true Carl and the reasons I went with a new block. This is the first new aftermarket block I've had. I'm very impressed with the quality. It's no aluminum Shelby but very nice. Siamese cyl walls and a max 4.440 bore this thing will be around longer than me.
Wish I could swing that as well but it's just not doable right now. Maybe sometime down the road possibly. I still need lots of things to get the 452 done. The car needs some upgrades too and there is just not enough to do everything at once.
