My cruise control has been out for a couple of years and hasnt bothered me much, but My wife and I will be driving to Colo in a couple of weeks and she would like it working if shes gonna drive.
So, here is my question. I suspect that it may be the senson on the clutch pushrod. I replaced the pushrod and master cylinder a year ago and the pushrod had some rust scale that I know was rubbing the sensor.
The parts guy swears its the brake master cylinder switch.
What do yall think?
if it is the brake switch being faulty you're driving around with the brake lights on
the switch on the clutch should go click click when you move the pedal about an inch with your hand. if it doesn't , bend the tab on the switch until it really touches the pedal.
everything else gets more complicated and expensive.
Not true about the master cylinder brake switch. That will NOT cause your brake lights to be on. The switch for the brake light is right at the brake pedal.
The clutch switch(im not sure) if not working you couldnt start your truck, since you need to push the clutch in to start. I may be wrong on this but thats my guess.
Your parts couter guy could be right, i had cruise control problems, and it turned out the connector on the master cylinder switch got bumped off. Plugged it back in and it worked.
Thanks guys, I will check the clutch switch for the clicking and the connection on the brake switch.
The horn does work. All the fuses are in tact and the overhead brake light is working.
