Does anyone know if you have to do anything to your steering or anything else if you install a 2" body lift.I bought an 88' b2 for parts that has the lift on it, and I want to put it on my 87' b2.I'm parting out the 88 anyone need anything I'm in central Indiana. thanks
You need the steering shaft extension, it will look like a hex box of steel. The 87/88 should not need the manual transmission adapter if they are standards. You could check to see if it has the bumper drop brackets.
What you should save for yourself for spares:
fuel filter cannister bottom 1/2 (going by posts here that it is the low press. reg.)
outer axle shafts for the dana 28
vss on rear axle
tfi
dir. switch in column
Thanks for replying rebo,I thought there should be something for the steering but this truck does'nt have that extension on it.I do know that the truck sat and was never driven after the 2" lift was put on it.Any ideas where I can get just that extension shaft? Thanks Bob
You may want to Google it, as I forget who all sells the body lift kits and pieces and parts. The only way I know other than that is to buy a new complete kit or ask the previous owner where the heck the extension is...
Mattoney,I'm twenty minutes north of Indy.Trans is in good shape I do know that it won't work in an 87'.Need any thing else I want to find homes for as many parts as I can. Before the truck sees the smasher.
Right now I'm looking for a transmission for my 1990. The 1987 already has one and I'm content with it. Is it manual or auto? how much are you wanting for it?
Mattoney,That trans is manual. It worked fine the last time the truck ran.If you come and get it I''ll take $150.00 cash.I will even warranty it,but for only ten days, that should be enough time to get it in.If it doesn't work for some reason bring it back to me and I'll give you your money back.

I wonder what was disconnected on the steering to get the lift on? Does it have a UJ or a rag joint?
I know when I did my bodylift, I had to disconnect the steering and stretch the brake lines to get the lift on. Though I did go all new poly bushings so that probably added a little more lift then normal.
