Thinking of buying a 5 string banjo. I had one about 25 years ago, and learned to play a few tunes ( Ballad of Ged Clampet, Cripple Creek, ect. ) But now I want to get back into it. Do any one of you guys play, how much am I looking at to spend for a mid range banjo. And what make do you recomend. Any imformation would really help.
THANKS!!.
I second that, Deering is a good US made brand. And they have models up and down the monetary spectrum.
However,
IF you're just looking to get back into playing for fun, I suggest finding a good used one. Check out pawn shops and classified ads. The one I play at home is an old off-brand that my uncle found in a pawn shop. I'm no Earl Scruggs, but it works pretty well for me.
