I have a 1997 E-350 van that is giving me an airbag code, it flashes 4 times , then once. Also the cruise control will not work, I think it might be linked to the airbag ?????. Can anyone help please.
That sounds like your clock spring. Does the horn work?
My Airbag ikon flashes "32", and has done so for months. No horn, although I believe initially I had use of the horn, and still saw the Airbag lamp on. My Cruise Control is a 'stem' off the steering column, works well, and must be non-Ford original unit.
How may I further isolate the issue, other than presumption of Clock Spring as self-fix of that issue is not one I will tackle, which means $$$ for dealer to do the job. I don't need to go through vehicle inspection until this time next year, so I have a little time to procrastinate further, and am hoping a different fix may be discovered... For instance, I can pull a fuse, and get it checked; even replaced...if I knew which one, or knew where to download a fuse box 'diagram'. 2000 E250 Cargo van.

My horn is working ok, I take it that the code is 41. I just don't want the airbag to go off while I'm driving normaly down the road. Any other sugestions ?

Thanks. All input welcome.
Code 32 IS the clockspring. That's why your horn doesn't work either. You can ignore it the air bag CAN'T go off with that code.
41 is a primary crash sensor #1 circuit open. That should be the one in front of radiator. Make sure it's there and plugged in.
pfogle, When I looked at the sensor, I found it dangling and not bolted to the frame as intended. I can not get to the 1/4 hole to retap them without taking the whole front end apart. So I plan to weld it in place tomorrow morning. When I uplugged it and replugged back in the airbag light on the dash went off. Not sure that is the whole problem, but I'll let you know tomorrow. Thank you for the advice. Think were headed in the right direction though.
I think I'd pull it off the truck and tap it that way. Then re-install it after I know for a fact that I can get the bolt in it. I really wouldn't want to weld it as it could damage the sensor. It's a sensitive electronic part.
