I am assuming that you let your glow plug light go off. As far as your power loss is concerned mine is the same way for the forst acceleration out of the driveway then it is fine. Diesel becomes more efficient as the temp rises. Mine also cranks for a second but I believe that is normal. I am sure someone will chime in on the long starts.
have you had the latest flash calibration for your computer ? I had the same problems with my 03 long cranking to start and no power from first takeoff .
If it is the HPOP seals, it usually only happens after the engine has been brought to operating temperature, shutdown, then restarted while the oil is still hot. It would start normally when the engine temp is cold. Since you mention it starts normally when the engine is hot, I would look towards the glow plugs or glow plug module. But, I'm not a tech so there could be other areas to concentrate on that I haven't thought of.
