Converting to Diesel
I did not read the thread but if you can find a way to time and inject the fuel and double the comp ratio, then you can. But of course, who knows what the true result would be. Youcould end up with what GM started their 6.2/6.5TD nightmare with a 5.7 converted gas engine.

The guts of a diesel are so much stronger and better quality than a gas motor. Diesels run @22 to 1 compression or there about. And if you could swap in all new internal parts, the block casting would not be up to the task, unless you wanted a very low horsepower diesel. Monsta's post was very apt when he recalled the 5.7 diesel fiasco of the 70's. What a nightmare ! Heads warped, head bolts stretched, it was awful. And those engines had NO power. Heck the pick-ups with the 5.7 diesel had ZERO tow/haul ratings. I see guys ask all the time about converting gas to diesel, and 2WD to 4WD. It's always 5 times cheaper to sell your existing rig and buy a factory produced model. Unless you want something that the factory doesn't produce, like a 4WD E-series van (which hopefully Ford will produce now that GM is offering one) you will never, ever come out ahead, or even the same. If ya want a diesel, go buy a diesel. Ken E-350 V-10 (non-diesel) XLT ClubWagon.
