my uncle converted a 302 fuel injected to carburetor. and his truck wouldnt start, they unplugged the computer and it started right up. dont know why, but, it might be the same as far as your truck goes
Was the '85 a HO motor? If it was use the cam it has. If not swap it out for an aftermarket cam, the standard cam for the non HO 351(both EFI and carb) is lame. You'll need the complete EFI intake with all wiring and plumbing for the swap.
Yeah, the air cleaner shows that it's an HO, so I'll leave the cam in. Looks like I'm going to have to swap the timing cover too, the old one had a cam-driven fuel pump.
Too late, I already replaced mine... I've got both blocks side-by-side and I'm just moving most of my 91's gear over to the '86 block. Thanks for the tip though
How much better is the '86 HO's cam? Am I gonna need to chip my ECM after I get done, or should it run ok?
