combination edge & SCT

hey guys, i like the things im reading on the SCT, it seems like the the best programer. I also like the different things the Edge does like everything it monitors, and the turbo timer and much more. I have read a lot of negatives on this forum about the Edge but let me ask you this. How about using the SCT with Matt tunes and then using the edge on stock mode to monitor everything? Do you think it would work correctly?

I have several customers who do this. As long as the Edge is set to level zero (or level 1 if you want to bump up the timing a bit) it is perfectly safe.

If you have an older single plug Edge unit, you can use the SCT to flash straight through it. If you have the double plug Edge, it will be neccessary to unhook it from the PCM in order to flash with the SCT.

You may also want to look into the MSD Dashhawk (same form factor as Egde Attitude monitor), or the Quadzilla Commander. Both of these units will read pretty much all the same parameters as the Edge, and you shouldn't have problems with leaving them in the truck when you take it to the dealer since they are only gauges. They are also considerably cheaper than the juice with attitude monitor. Neither of them have a turbo timer shutdown feature though. Turbo timers are included in most aftermarket remote start systems though.

I personally have the MSD Dashhawk and really like it. I am planning on getting an alarm with remote start and turbo timer built in. Later on down the road when my warranty is out (if I can actually wait that long) I will buy an SCT tuner from Matt with his tunes. I should be able to get all three for a little bit more than you would spend on just the Juice with attitude.

I am using a DashHawk and SCT Xcal2 tuned by Spartan Diesel Tech. What year is your truck?

His profile says he has an 06, so he would be ok with the latest Dashhawk Firmware. He may also want to look into the DashDAQ thread that Matt just posted. That thing looks pretty cool, but it's not out yet, and I'm thinking it's gonna be quite a bit more expensive than the Dashhawk (or the Dashhawk is going to have to lower thier cost).

Edit\ Just noticed on the bottom of the link Matt posted. Initial price of $595, so a little over double what I paid for my Dashhawk. Still sounds cool though.
