what is the best weight oil for my new to me 46 8 cyl flathead in my 46 tonner?

time to give the old boy some new fluids

15-40w Rotella, it's a diesel oil and it helps keep the engine clean. Especially in an engine without PCV.

The following is a hear say from a professional engine builder, who told me about the new products. So check for yourself to make sure, read the label.

I've heard that they, the oil companys have done some weird things with the oils. They are, the new oils that is, does not protect like the ones that we are used to.
Also I have heard that the engine oils formulated for the Diesel Engine are a better protective quality.
Apparently the new oils are good for engines with the roller type cams, and there is a substance that has been taken out for lubricating the older type engines.
