Radiators not created equal
Learned something new. Depending on your radiator support the radiator mounting holes are different. I tried to replace my radiator with the one from my parts truck....(1970 into 1969)....and found that it would not fit right. The radiator was not a direct replacement. I looked at my other trucks and found that the radiator supports can be different from one truck to another. I can't say what years are the same because my trucks are made up from different year parts trucks. So if you are going to replace your radiator from one at the junk yard you will want to pay attention to how it mounts up first. I had thought that all radiator supports were the same until now. Any comments?
Yup, found that out years back. Bought a new front end outta junk yard and found that my little small block radiator didn't line up. Had to drill a few new holes, etc. Wasn't a real problem, but was not a direct fit.
1967/72 F100/250 2WD: C7TZ-16138-A .. Radiator Support ~ Use without Super Cooling Radiator
1967/72 F100/350 and F100/250 4WD: C7TZ-16138-B .. Radiator Support ~ Also use with Super Cooling Radiator
The same is true for 1973/79. Two different cores supports. The standard core support works with standard, extra cooling and A/C radiators, but the Super Cooling radiators are wider. If you want to install one in a truck that didn't come that way originally, you will need to trim the support and drill new mounting holes.
