I am having problems with my 97 f150 coils burning out and im not sure why.
I have the 2 coil packs and 8 regular wire system (NOT THE COP)
My problem is that on my pass side one side of the coil pack is burning up, i have started checking a few things with the inition system but im not really sure what could cause this. I have checked the ground to the coil from the computer and it works as it should, i have checked all the power into the coil and as it should be and the camshaft sensor-its fine. I even checked my charging system to make sure the alternator is not overcharging and its not. I know that most of the tests i have done determine the spark and dont really think that they could have an affect on the coil itself burning up but i have no idea. I am just not sure what could cause this coil to just heat up so bad that it could just crack and even some of the inside contents started leaking out. Anyone with any insight please let me know
thank you, Leonard
check the gap on your plugs, to high of a gap can be bad. make sure the ground wire is good. is there an external heat source? have you replaced the wires?
