What type of business is it? Who are your potential customers/clients? Where do those people hang out? Go there.
I guess it depends on the type of business but web sites such as craigslist could be a good place to start. Dallas is a huge place and I'm sure that whatever type of business you have, you are competing against an already established business that has the customers you want. You either have to get the overflow, the disgruntled or get the word out that you are better than the existing guys.
Sounds easy to me but I would suggest running some ads in small local or neighborhood type newspapers. Maybe even leaflet the local mall or shopping center.
That must be a booming business in any part of the country but your customer base obviously isn't parked at the local mall so forget that idea.
Maybe you could stop by some of the businesses in your area, school departments, public agencies and leave a flyer with the purchasing department. If nothing else, ask to be put on their list of potential bidders if they ever need any of this type of service.
My company is installing thousands of cameras throughout our system. Pretty soon we won't be able to hide anywhere....
Try the public agencies- water, gas, electric, sewer, etc. Security is at the forefront now. Lots of agencies have had cameras and alarm systems installed on their facilities after 9-11. Hope this helps.
I spent the last 16 years before retiring selling computer maintenance contracts. First thing I would do is contact the purchasing departments of local companies to determine how to get your company put on their bid lists for the products/services you supply. I would also do this with the city and county governments and all the suburban cities surrounding Dallas. I would obtain references from former clients, have business cards printed and start "cold calling" liquor stores, convenience stores, check cashing stores, hign-end builders, ect. You are going to have to be a salesman as well as a technician. Good luck.
