1962 Uni Help Quick!
I'm new to this forum and want to say hi and congratulate you guys on a great site. I am a member of the corvette forum and have 1971 and 2000 convertibles but I still like my big Excursion when I have to "git er done". I am in need of some quick help on pricing etc. I ran into a 1962 uni (that's why I picked my log in). Supposedly it has 27,000 original miles. It's red and white, 292 ci 3sp on column with no rust. I'm told these are the options it has.... headliner, deluxe wheel covers, map pockets, chrome bumpers, tow hitch. It look real nice and I go to drive it and crawl around under it tomorrow. Any quick tips on trouble points to look for? Any rough estimate of value? Where would I find the vin# and what could it tell me?
Thanks in advance for your help and I hope I'll be able to report back with some good news.
Mike
If so it should be 100 point quality and way pricey.
The vin on a 62 is located on the glove box door. also on the frame rail top alongside the shock tower.
Places to look for rust are the torque box and lower front a pillars below the hinges. Also a problem are is behind the gas tank where the rear panel meets the bed floor.

No deluxe wheel covers were offered on Ford pickups till 1966. Whatever you have was prolly dealer installed. Like the wheelcovers, the tow hitch was available only over the parts counter.
Post all the info from the Rating (VIN) Plate. The codes, when decoded, will tell you among other things: the type of engine, transmission, rear axle and ratio, what the original color(s) are, type of interior fabrics used, where the truck was assembled, and what area in the US (or Canada) it was ordered from and sent to. The actual build month will also be known.
One of us here on FTE will ID what the wheelcovers are and inform you what they were used on.
