fuel problem

I have an 1986 F-150 that has started to act like it is running out of gas. It will start up and ican drive it for several miles and then it will start sputtering and dieing out and if i play with the gas sometimes it comes back. most times it shuts off and I have to leave it sit for awhile before it will start up. Any ideas? I did put on new gas cap and changed the fuel filter.

Leave the gas cap off and see if it quits doing it. Your emissions hoses to the tanks may clogged.

if the fuel pump is leaking, its probably bad.

the diaphram in ur fuel pump is goeing out or ur filter is clogged i gaurantee it man i usedd to have the same problem all the time
