I dont think they will fit unless you plan on cutting the 78 window to fit the smaller 72 opening.

I'm going to bump this back to the top. I think the rear windows are the same size. I know the windshields are. Maybe someone else and give you a definite answer.

I still think Im right. Check out Blue Oval's catalog. It lists the rear windows for 67-72 as different part numbers from the 73-86 rear windows.

I second what Dennis said.
The 67 - 72 has a small window,
then the 73 - 79 went bigger and kept that same size rear window thru to 1996.

Maybe there were tiny differences 73 - 96 and possibly different parts numbers,
but they fit back and forth all day long.

But not so from 72 to 73, totally different.

When I put my rear window back in I noticed that the inside and outside body panels werent quite lined up from side to side when it was spot welded together.(about 3/16")
Didnt think much of it till the last few inches of installation was to tight.
That 3/16 doubles because its the same on the other side (x2=3/8")
If I ever have to take it back out (if I find felt) I'm going to get a nibbler and remove the excess steel.

Just something to watch for.

You know I thought they were the same from 73-96 +some 97's but according to Blue Oval there are different part numbers between the 73-86 and 87-96's. Im not sure what the difference is but it must be enough to have a different part number. Maybe the gasket is different and we should just leave that to the 80's guys to figure out. But to the OP the rear window for 67-72 is different from 73-79.

Hey Bill,
Where would we go, what would we do if you were not there to shed light on the subject while we stuble around in the parts number darkness!?!?

God Bless you man.
