A new dangerous intermittent problem

1986 F150 302 EFI and 3 speed stick. My truck has always had stalling out issues. It was worse with a bad battery, but once I replaced that it had been good for a while. Now a few times it has stalled out while actually driving at speed. usually a few dumps of the clutch will get it started again. But occasionally it will stall out when I'm trying to start out and it won't restart. It will crank and crank and crank without starting. Finally it will fire and it will run fine again for days or a week or more. Any ideas?

Just did a key on engine off test, got code 11 (pass) , then code 18, loss of tach signal to Electronic Control Assembly.

Code 18 means you are getting an intermittent lose of the spout signal from the computer to the TFI ignition module. Since it's intermittent, it's going to be hard to find.

Check the wiring from the dist module to the computer. You might also try changing the TFI module.

Check you coil connections,The green power wire might be corroaded and will cause all that you said its doing.

Ok, I was thinking the module or pickup could be the problem. (the pickup is techincally the PIP sensor??) I don't want to just throw parts at it though. All the wiring and connectors look fine.
