Well I bougt a 65 4x4 but the vin # is confusing me because on the tag on the truck this is the vin F11BL652723... but on the title it is F1186652723, Could this be a misprint on the title? Also could somebody decode this vin for me? Thanks...
4 wheel drive
300 cubic inch motor (were there fewer of those made than the 240? Seems like it comes up less often here)

You'll have to ask someone else how to fix the title. What gets me is I can see how someone would mistype an "8" for the "B" but how does the "L" become a "6" ??
Careful here!
The door may have been changed out, so the tag may not be right.
Check the frame number to be sure. It is stamped into the passenger side frame rail about where the alternator rides. It is behind the radiator, and ahead of the crossmember.
You will need a wire brush to get the rust and dirt off.
Don't use a grinder, as they are only lightly stamped.
Folks piece together trucks and with a good title you can get tags in my state. No inspections are done.
I have a 66 F100, NC puts the VIN on the title and mine starts out F25 indicating that someone used a F250 title with the truck to get tags.
Usually when you get stopped, the officer asks to see your license and registration. As long as it is current that aspect goes no further. You may still have a ticket coming for what you were stopped for.
Buckshot, You will have to decide what you can live with, or without.
your truck is a feb 65 build....btw..the 4X4 option was a $696 option...I cant find a breakout of the production numbers of the 65 4wd...so Im at a loss..but I do know they are quite rare...heck, 65s in general are becoming like 62s and 63s....rare to see on the road....
The door and the frame are the same vin, it's just the title that has the numbers where the letters should be. I'm doing my first Body off Restoration on this truck. I bought it for 350 bucks and drove it home. Body is in pretty good shape, No new sheet metal is needed. It has/had a running 351C in it, NP435 Trans. and a Dana 24 T-Case. It is also a Short wheel base custom cab, with a stepside bed. Im wanting to put an ol' 300ci in it, anybody know where i can get some 300ci motor mounts so i can put the I6 Back in there?
You need FE towers or 300 towers which are the same, source them out of any junk yard. 65 to 79 F100,150 or 250 2 wheel drive.
Garbz
Woops my bad i missed the T case in there....Things get a little harder with the four wheel drives as far as mounts...some still used the front mount and bell mounts for 65 66
ND can you post the part numbers and year spread on the 4x4s
The spacers & insulators were used on misc. 1961/64 223's and 292's 2 & 4WD.
================================================== ========
1965 F100/250 4X4; 1966 F2504X4; 1965/66 F350 Rear Motor Mounts
The above parts were used in misc applications on 1961/64 223 & 292 2 & 4WD's.
The spacers and insulators attach to the crossmember, which is riveted on.
