where's the FAQ
I usually spend my time on the 73-79 truck page, and they have a FAQ on the top, so i was wondering wheres yours.
I dont want to bother you guys with same questions youve been answering for the past month, and finally thought you moved past it, and now here comes the new guy asking the same question, what different year stuff will fit on mine.
thanks in advance.
There isn't as much traffic on this forum, so it isn't much of a big deal if the same questions are asked over and over again. However, a FAQ section would be nice instead of searching through years of posts looking for an answer.
There is a lot of interchange between model years. Do you have any specific questions? Might be easier to answer.
Welcome to the EB forum

first thing i want to do is upgrade my brakes, can i go the the parts store and order hubs, rotor, caliper, booster, master, brake lines, etc. for a 76 or 77, and just slap 'em on my 72?, is it that easy?
I am assuming that body parts are 100% interchangeable.
I've been a certified, and licensed mechanic for 10 years, even worked at a ford dealership for a little while, and have built a couple of cars from the ground up before, so i am competent if i have to fabricate a little, but is the brake thing more like a conversion?
I have the dana 44 up front, i understand that the 76 was standard with dana 44 and discs.

Using all Ford parts: Need 76-79 knuckles and spindles (76-77 Bronco work the best as your tie rods will fit. The 76-79 F150 knuckles also work, but you will need spacers for the tie rod holes), and then 76-93 hub and rotors and 76-79 calipers.
A cross of GM and Ford: keep your existing drum brake knuckles and use 71-76 1/2 ton GM spindles, backing plates, and calipers the 76-90's Ford hub and rotor. The GM/ Ford setup works because they both use Dana axles.
Both ways have their pros and cons. I prefer the GM setup as I feel that the braking system and calipers stop better than the Ford. But both ways will improve stopping performance a lot
There is a quite a bit of body interchange through the years. Doors and windshield frames seem to be the biggest difference.
66 has unique doors, latches and linkages
67 is similar to the 66, the location of the lock cylinder was changed which changed some of the linkage length.
Both the 66 and 67 had removeable door frames.
68 seems to be the most sought after doors, they share the same design and latches as the 69-77, but they were the last year for removeable frames.
There are 2 different windshield frames 66-68 and 69-77. They changed with the change to electric wipers. This also changes the bolt pattern on the hardtop, which can be redrilled
Some of the other differences include 77 gas doors, and cut outs for marker lights from 71 on.
There were some changes made to the dash layout over the years as well.
Hope this answers your questions
Jason
